J Reeves Engineering is a privately-owned family-run business, established in 1976, operating from our 22,000 sq ft facility in Braintree, Essex.
We have been involved in projects initiated by a wide range of clients over the years, always providing the same professional level of service whoever the customer. From artists, councils and designers to local businesses, multinational corporations, and hopefully you too.
We can manufacture from DWG, DXF and CNC files or alternatively, we can use a sketch you have composed and translate this ourselves onto Solidworks. If you have an idea and are not sure how to complete it, our highly skilled staff can help create a 3D free-hand drawing, or computer-generated image.

Our Trumpf Laser Cutting machine has the ability to cut a vast number of materials with high accuracy and detail, as the laser retains integrity as it cuts, resulting in less contamination of the final product.

Robotic/Manual Welding & Fabrication
We can provide welding of mild steel, aluminium and stainless-steel components. Offering manual and robotic MIG welding along with TIG welding and a comprehensive finishing service as part of the fabrication service. This allows fabrications to be finished to a high standard and the facilities are particularly suited to fabrications in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
In addition to our multiple dedicated welding bays and Robot Welding Cells, we have in house capability to design and manufacture all our welding jigs and fixtures.
Additional Services
SHEARING & SAWING:
• 3 metre guillotine with CNC facilities, cuts materials up to 6mm thickness.
• Hydraulic Steelworker, Kingsland 55XS is used for punching, flat bar shearing, notching, and angle and section cutting.
• Mitre cutting up to 45 degrees for flat bars. Shear blades give minimum distortion from full capacity (230 x 30mm) down to as little as 2mm thickness.
• Precision Kaltenbach, cold sawing and repetition automatic band sawing, together with cropping and punching machinery.
BENDING:
• C.N.C bending: 2.2m x 66tonnes, 3m x 80tonnes and 3m x 130tonnes.
• Manual bending: 2.5m long, 110tonnes.
FURTHER WELDING:
• Metal arc and spot welding available.
C.N.C TURRET PUNCHING:
• 3m x 1.5m x 4mm thickness
We have a 51 station and 80 station Weidemann, allowing us to punch holes to within 0.1mm
VERTICAL MACHINING CENTRE: SMV 1000
• 20 station CNC 3 axis machine capable of all machining disciplines.
STOVE ENAMEL, POWDER COATING:
• Iron phosphate available. Sizeable fabrications can be pre-treated prior to stove enamelling or powder coating.
• Convection curing oven. 2.5m x 4m
